Who I am

Yes, Kizzy is my real name. My mom was inspired by the TV series Roots, first aired in the 1970s, where Kizzy was one of the main characters and the daughter of Kunta Kinte.

I was born and raised in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Both of my parents were born in Cabo Verde: a group of tiny islands in the Atlantic Ocean, close to the west coast of Africa.

In 2010 I moved from Europe to the United States, where I live with my American husband (together for over 12 years) and our two children — a son and a daughter.

Growing up between two cultures, I learned early that beauty and style are personal forms of storytelling. This blog began as a simple space to share my everyday beauty finds, but it quickly grew into a place where I talk openly about skincare routines, makeup experiments, and the confidence that comes from feeling good in your own skin. From my daily moisturizer picks to the occasional splurge-worthy treat, I love keeping things honest and approachable.
